Why electric bicycle motors?

Electric bicycle motors are quickly growing in popularity. They are fairly inexpensive, easy to install, and offer a number of advantages over riding a bike without a motor. Why, though, would people want to add an electric bicycle motor to their bicycle?

First of all, electric bicycle motors are great for assisting the rider who already enjoys a good bike ride. Though most of the motors out there would be able to push you along on your bicycle without any help, they are actually most effective when you peddle with them. By using the motor as an assister, you will find that you can ride twice as fast as you normally could, but with the exact same effort.

Some people who use electric bicycle motors, though, only use them in tough circumstances. Perhaps you have trouble with large hills. If that is the case, a good motor can aid you in getting to the top without having to dismount and push your bicycle. They can also be used similarly in strong headwind conditions. Adding a motor to a bike will keep the elderly, young, slightly disabled, or couch potato from straining themselves in tough pedaling conditions.

Electric bicycle motors are generally activated by a switch that would be located on your handlebars. In this case, it is known as a power-on-demand motor. The other option is a ped-elec motor which responds to your pedaling. No matter which kind you may have installed on your bicycle, you will find that the push you get will be both noticeable and nearly silent so that you can still enjoy the ambiance of bicycle riding.

The Power on demand electric motors do not require you to pedal at all. Once you turn on the motor, the assistance is there. Most have only an on and off switch, however; there are a few where you can actually control the speed, though they are more expensive. On the other hand, the ped-elec motors only activate if they sense you pedaling. They will coast when you do and are designed only for assistance and cannot actually power your bicycle without pedaling.

If you resist bicycling because you struggle with hills and headwinds or if you physically need the assistance to be able to rid your bicycle, then consider adding electric bicycle motors to your two wheelers. You will feel the difference immediately, and at the same time will join a growing group of people who are aiding their pedaling.
