Electric Car Motors Outshine Gasoline Car Motors

Electric car motors are at the heart of the electric car. These motors are fueled, not by traditional gasoline, but by battery power. They are not like a regular motor because operating on electric verses gasoline calls for differences in the motor itself. Electric cars have their pros and cons, but it seems that advances and adjustments within the electric motor may bring electric cars into the main stream.

Electric cars came from the concerns over certain aspects surrounding gasoline powered cars. Gasoline produces pollution as it burns and in turn damages the environment. The maintenance on a gasoline powered motor is also messy and involves pollutants. Electric cars are a cleaner alternative. Gasoline cars can also run loudly if the exhaust system is not in good condition. Electric cars run very quietly. To power a gasoline engine takes oil and that is becoming more expensive and, in some cases, short on supply. Electric motors use battery power that does not need any oil for power. All of these concerns led to an interest in electric motor powered cars over gasoline powered cars.

In the first electric car attempts there were some problems. The batteries were large, heavy and short on power. Driving an electric car seemed to be more of a hassle than anything else. The motors needed more power than a battery could supply. If the batteries were made bigger than they would be heavier and thus drain the power quicker. It was a circle of problems. Recently, however, new electric cars have been introduced called hybrids. Hybrids run on electric and gasoline power. They use less gasoline than a normal gasoline powered car and less battery power than a normal electric car. Hybrids take the best of both vehicles and combine it into one.

The future of electric car motors is looking like it will take some time to work out the kinks. A true, 100% electric motor is not a thing of the past. Technology has advanced and battery power has begun to go into new directions. The public and the car industry has recognized that electric car motors are just a better alternative to gasoline power motors. That is why the focus is to manufacture electric car motors that work as efficiently ads a gasoline powered motor. One day a true electric car motor may be mainstream, but for now a combination of gas and electric power seems to be the best working solution.
